MEET STANDARDIZATION

Meet Standardization | 2025 (Work in Progress)

MEET SET UP:

  • Pre-Designated TEAM AREAS with signage if possible
  • Meet Management: Home team provides tents, if not inside
    • Power is a must .
    • Each team bring power strips/extension cords.
    • Home team should education visiting team is something is different than most pools.
    • Home Team provides WiFi or hotspot and tables for both teams data set up.
  • Pre-Meet Email to Visiting Team by Thursday evening at 6:00pm
    • Parking info, Warnings (ex: GG – don’t park within 30′ of intersection in front of pool, don’t park in neighboards, etc)
    • Food offerings (Food truck, in-house concessions, etc)
    • WiFi/Power for data management
    • Team Area for swimmers
    • Breaks: (Ex: After freestyle, first half/second half – volunteer switch)
    • If 4 or 5 lanes available, remind visiting team for seeding purposes
  • Data Entry and Meet Merge
    • To be discussed at meeting, lots of options
    • Options
      • Home team: Enter Girls, Visiting team: Enter Boys
      • Enter your own, Merge by 11:00pm
  • Flip Charts: Use it…it’s a requirement – helps timers/scribes

 

MEET DIRECTOR:

  • Ultimately, in charge of meet flow. Should ONLY be the MD, no other jobs, except Head SJ.
    • Should have a map of pool layout, including SJ positions
    • Check in at Score Table/Data Entry & Awards, periodically
  • Can’t be Head Coach, per Bylaws.
  • Reminds SJs to watch “fingers and toes” (takeoffs).
  • MD should consider wearing a bright colors – hang out in the same place (ex: by Announcer/Starter)
  • Reiterate at TIMERS meetings – get over edge of pool to stop clocks
  • Provide feedback to Starter (too fast, too slow). Watch build up at Ready Bench
  • Rotate SJs at the end of each event.
  • Current Clinic Attendance is required.

 

STROKE JUDGES:

  • Supply clipboards, DQ sheets & pens/pencils for BOTH TEAMS
  • Supply flags: SJs including Relay SJ’s.
  • Call for MD if Coach is out of control (or parents)
  • Rotate after each stroke
  • Watch ½ pool, turns, takeoffs – NOT STARTS (that’s the Starter’s job)
  • Relay Take Offs: Thumbs up, thumbs down. No discussion.
  • Current Clinic Attendance is required.

 

STARTER:

  • Start from START END OF POOL
  • Know where extra watches are
  • In charge of flow, work with announcer and Ready Bench.

 

READY BENCH:

  • Home Team provides HEAD READY BENCH
    • No Coaches in RB area, Tent Parents/Helpers allowed
    • Only Home RB person releases swimmers to edge of Pool
    • Work with Starter
  • Ready Benches at both ends of pool if possible
  • Fill lanes on Ready Bench

 

TIMERS:

  • PreAssigned by each team, assign lanes
  • Lanes 1-3-5 (Home). 2 Visitor Timers, 1 Home Timer
  • Lanes 1-4-6 (Visitor). 2 Home Timers, 1 Visitor Timer
  • Scribes – Assign according to DIVISION vote
